We work throughout the community, delivering art workshops to those who need it the most.

From schools to care homes, we believe art is central to happiness and wellbeing.

During the pandemic, we are running online workshops, to support mental health and to encourage relaxation, with support and funding from Arts Council Wales, Armed Forces Covenant, Ashley Family Foundation, The National Lottery England and Wales, The Waterloo Foundation and The Baring Foundation.

OUR COMMUNITY WORK
CHESTER: ROCK SALT CARVING AT THE LION SALTWORKS
On Saturday 19th July 2019, Pam Gordon held a workshop in the Butterfly Garden Saltworks.

The workshop was created for beginners who wanted to try stone carving and expand their skills in art, craft, and design.

Carving the Rock Salt is a challenge, as it's a hard, crystalline rock with structural floors - so we let the rock dictate the carving process. We also later had a go with Maltese Limestone as it's much softer to carve, and allowed the group to transfer their ideas into stone more easily.

The session provided a positive experience for all and Pam was impressed by the level of creativity from the group and how they transferred their ideas from nature into art.

Pam added:

"I had not taught any of the artists before and it was a pleasure to guide and demonstrate some new carving skills for them to learn. Our group fitted into the garden building very nicely when it was raining in the morning, and we moved out into the open air after lunch to carve in the beautiful surroundings of the Butterfly Garden".
