About the event

At Radiate Arts, as part of our True Colours project for the LGBTQ+ community, we will be providing a series of free weekly sessions exploring the use of art and creativity as a tool for self-expression and self-discovery.

Guided by our Art Therapist, Ash. You will have the opportunity to explore themes of self-portraits, connection to nature, mask-making, personal vision boards, sculpting with clay and more. All materials will be provided free of charge.

These free sessions give you the space to explore your creative mind and give a chance to connect with others in the community.

There is no pressure to commit to attending all sessions and the atmosphere will be relaxed, inclusive and safe.

More information on the themes we will explore:

Self-Portraits of Queer Identity

In this theme, we will take time to explore the power of self-expression and identity by creating self-portraits that embrace our authentic queer identities. Celebrate your true self and represent your identity and story through art.

Identity Masks: Unveiling Layers of Queer Expression

In this session we will explore our identities by creating masks that represent different aspects of our queer selves. This process allows us to delve into how we feel about our identities, vulnerabilities, and strengths, revealing hidden layers and embracing our true selves.

Queer Vision Boards: Manifesting Dreams and Desires

By collaging images, words, and symbols that resonate with our authentic selves, we can tap into our inner wisdom, creativity, and resilience to shape our futures. Vision boards are a visualization technique that involves creating a collage of images, words, and symbols that represent goals, aspirations, and an ideal future. Through this technique, we can visualise our authentic selves, exploring themes of identity, belonging, and purpose.

Queer Nature Connection

This session will give us time to step outside, immerse ourselves in natural settings, and use the environment as a source of inspiration and materials for our artistic expressions. By engaging in outdoor art-making activities, we will have the opportunity to deepen our connection to the earth and explore the connection that our queer identities have with the natural world.
